  • Volunteer at fundraising events!

  • Volunteer on boxing days!

  • Bring your parents to a travel team meeting and join us on a trip to South Africa!

  • Spread the word about GenJoy to your friends!

  • Educate yourself about the needs of other kids in the world!

  • Then do something to help!

BLOCK Club at Beaver Lake Middle School

Imagine a simple club run by students turning into something known all over Washington State. Believe it or not, BLMS is only one of the many schools that hold a Humanitarian Drive in Washington each year, and we help organize drives for other schools in the Issaquah School District.

Created by Generation Joy to focus on students, BLOCK club is the Beaver Lake Outreach Community of Kids. We're a group of dedicated teenagers who are willing to make a difference, and already have. For more than 7 years, students from all over our community have touched the lives of 6,000 South African children each year by just giving them something as small as a pencil. In order to improve education in South Africa, BLOCK Club collects everything from notebooks to art supplies and even things like comfort items. Each year at BLMS, hundreds of boxes of items are prepared and shipped to South Africa, and all of this happens during a three week Humanitarian Drive, but with all the other schools involved, the drive really runs for up to 2 months.

BLOCK's mission is "kids helping kids" and we continue to accomplish this every year. Since the BLOCK Club kids are responsible for the organization, presentation, and implementation of the drive, "kids helping kids" is a very fitting goal. Each year over the summer, a group of students travels to South Africa to deliver the supplies themselves, taking the mission to the next level! In conclusion, our community is constantly making a difference in the world, one kid at a time!
